Lawyer Profit Announces National Co-Counsel Group for Traumatic Brain Injury

Group Formed to Promote and Physically Prove Cognitive Damage by TBI

Las Vegas, NV:  LawyerProfit LLC announced it is forming a co-operative advertising group of co-counsel attorneys seeking cases involving Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).  The national personal injury lawyer co-operative will provide additional information and a complimentary white paper for TBI attorneys at the Mass Torts Conference in Las Vegas, on October 15.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) can cause a wide range of functional changes affecting thinking, sensation, language, and/or emotions. TBI may later cause epilepsy and increase the risk for conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other brain disorders that become more prevalent with age.3

The group is espousing the next-generation Computerized Axial Tomography, “CT” or “CAT” scans. CT scans are entrenched as the front-line, neuroradiological imaging for many because of their relative availability and low cost. But CT scans have both limitations and detractors, with CT scans not able to prove mild traumatic brain injuries in some cases.

Instead, the co-counsel group will educate consumers, the media, insurance adjustors and other co-counsel attorneys on 'Diffusion tensor imaging' or 'DTI' scans.

DTI scans provide spectacular images of tracts of muscle or nerve fiber bundles in brain injuries.  They work because water diffusion is much faster along the length of the fibers than across them. These images are clinically useful in showing interruption of normal fiber anatomy by trauma.

As reported by the American Academy of Neurology, a 2007 study at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas–Houston Medical School:
“diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) performed within 6 days post injury showed increased fractional anisotropy and decreased diffusivity suggestive of cytotoxic edema”

LawyerProfit’s Brain Injury Co-Counsel Group will signal the absolute importance of securing a DTI scan within 6 days of a traumatic brain injury in order to establish cell damage from TBI.  Properly diagnosed, the Brain Injury Co-Counsel Group proposes to use DTI scans to ascribe fibre density, axonal diameter, and myelination in white matter . By leading consumer education nationally, the Brain Injury Co-Counsel Group will take a leadership role on offline marketing channels such as TV, Cable and Radio; as well as Web 2.0 initiatives in mobile search, social media, web searches, and web video.

According to the (CDC), there are 1.4 million persons who sustain a TBI each year in the United States. Of these injuries: 50,000 die; 235,000 are hospitalized; and 1.1 million are treated and released from an emergency department.1Among children ages 0 to 14 years, TBI results in an estimated: 2,685 deaths; 37,000 hospitalizations; and 435,000 emergency department visits annually.1  80,000-90,000 people experience the onset of long-term disability The leading causes of TBI are : Falls (28%);  and Motor vehicle-traffic crashes (20%).
